The Best Drip Coffee Machines
Drip coffee makers can be powerful machines that allow for hands-free making. They can be big and bulky taking up valuable counter or cabinet space.
The top drip machines have a simple design and are easy to use. Some come with extras that make a morning cup of coffee more customizable with timers that can be programmed and self-cleaning modes.
1. De'Longhi TrueBrew
The De'Longhi TrueBrew is the perfect place to buy coffee. It can be made from whole beans to a complete carafe with a few presses. It has a built-in burr grinder (taken directly from De'Longhi's espresso machines) that measures the proper amount of coffee grounds and compacts them prior to making coffee, eliminating the need for pods and plastic filters.
It also has a range of settings for the size and design, ranging from 3oz espresso-style drinks, to 16oz iced coffee, or 40oz of the traditional carafe. It can pour coffee into any vessel you choose whether it's a large cup or a small espresso cup. It even creates tea!
Manufacturers love to dream up absurd technical jargons and this one includes the Bean Extract Technology which "adapts and precisely grinds" the beans based on your selection. This is all marketing. The most important thing is that it's easy to use, fairly quick and doesn't cause a lot of a mess while brewing. It does, however, lack the ability to brew a short or long shot of espresso and lacks a steam wand for milk. If you're seeking these features, I would suggest looking into the Moccamaster KBGV Select.
2. Cuisinart MultiServe
This is one of the top drip coffee makers available on the market. It makes consistently delicious, hot cups of coffee that efficiently brew.
We also loved the ease with the ability to customize the brewing experience. You can choose the size of your cup (from 5-ounce single servings up to a full carafe) and the strength you want with the simple turn of dials and also choose between either a french press or regular setting. You can also make cold brew at the push of a button, or choose from a range of specialty options such as Over Ice and Roasted.
The only drawback is that the design doesn't match the other more sophisticated models we've tested. For example the rounded Smeg drip machine looks like an Easter egg and is a welcome break from the traditional boxy designs of competitors. However, its slim water tank and narrow opening could be difficult to navigate, particularly in the dark when the brew is in process. It takes a little more thought and effort than some consumers would want as part of their morning routine.
3. filter coffee machine uk -Cup brewer
Keurig single serve coffee makers utilize pre-packaged K cups that eliminate the necessity of measuring or grinding grounds. They also allow you to control the brewing time. These machines can also make the cup of coffee in less than two minutes, which is considerably faster than a traditional drip machine.
However, the Keurigs we've tested create a lot of mess--much more than drip machines. The spout, which spews hot coffee creates a 2-inch splash zone that leaves drops of water on the drip tray, machine and counter. They also produce an annoying loud sputtering noise while brewing.
The Keurigs that we tested worked well despite the mess. The Smart Keurig K-Cafe is the most sophisticated model, with a detachable reservoir, four K-cup sizes and three temperature settings and a customizable menu. It also comes with a dishwasher-safe milk frother that can be used to froth skim, whole and non-dairy milk. It's a great option for anyone looking to make a new cup of coffee each morning or for large families that require an extra capacity.
Keurig Instant pod is another great choice for anyone seeking a single-serve machine that is user-friendly and simple. It comes with a 78-ounce tank that can brew several cups before needing to be refilled. It also has the ability to brew your own coffee grounds which is rare in a Keurig. The controls are simple and easy to use however the machine communicates using tones and chirps rather than an LCD, making it difficult to tell when a brew has been ready.

4. Cuisinart Drip Machine
This durable, mid-priced machine comes with all the features you require to get your day started. It comes with a large reservoir of 14 cups and an open window that clearly shows the water level. The large buttons clearly labeled make it easy to use. And the removable filter and grinder can be cleaned in the sink, eliminating the need to brush out the grounds from difficult-to-access places. It also has a handy brew strength selector that allows you to select between three different settings, including bold.
The reservoir also comes with a charcoal filter that helps soak up metals and other unpleasant odors and flavors from the tap water, which can cause your coffee to taste dry or burnt. This means less work, and a better tasting cup of coffee.
Another benefit: the programmability feature allows you to set your coffee brew to a certain time. The pause button lets you to pour one or two cups of coffee before the whole pot is finished brewing, which can be useful for busy mornings when you require an extra dose of caffeine. It also has a sleek design and is more comfortable on the kitchen counter compared to most boxy drip coffee machines.
5. Ratio Six
The Ratio Eight is the older sister of the Six. It provides a premium experience with an affordable price and smaller footprint. Its single-button operation mimics a skilled pour over with precise metered water flow and the ideal temperature for coffee. The machine makes use of a powerful 1400 watts to heat water and complete the process in five to six minutes--which is significantly less than many of the cheaper models we have tested. This rapid brew is partially due to the blooming cycle which allows the coffee grounds to settle prior to the shower head that delivers the rest of the water for optimal extraction.
The Six uses a heat shield that is unique in order to keep water at the optimal temperature and to protect the spray head. It is among a few brewers that has been Golden Cup certified by Specialty Coffee Association. This means that it keeps the correct temperature of brewing throughout the entire brew cycle.
In terms of design, the Six is sleek and minimalist, with a stainless steel carafe that is placed on top of a filter holder that can accommodate Melitta flat bottom filters. The carafe that is insulated keeps the coffee hot without the need of a heated plate. This preserves the flavor.
6. Gevi 10-Cup Coffee Maker
The Gevi produces great tasting coffee and has a sleek, relatively compact design that doesn't take up lots of counter space. The touchscreen features cute icons that allow you to select one-touch commands. For instance, you can choose Bold or if you're making a half-pot of coffee, you can choose the One to Four Cups feature. The machine also lets you set the timer and switch the brew-cycle tone tones that sound audible or off.
The built-in grinder and ability to adjust the size and strength of your coffee is a nice feature. It takes a while to understand how the machine operates but it's easy once you've mastered it. It comes with many of the features that you would expect to find in more expensive models.
The only drawback is that it can't brew a full carafe at once, which can be a problem when you need to serve multiple people. It's still a good option if you're in the market for drip coffee maker with a built-in grinder as well as the flexibility to make different types of drinks. It comes with a one-year warranty and excellent customer support.
7. Moccamaster KBGV
The Moccamaster is a high-end drip-coffee maker that is built to last. It is made by Technivorm in the Netherlands and comes with a five-year guarantee. Its sleek glass carafe sits atop a warmer that keeps the coffee at an optimal temperature for up to six minutes. It can be programmed to make a full or half pot, and it's certified to brew at optimal times and temperatures suggested by the Specialty Coffee Association. It also features a "practically invisible drip stopper" an incredibly small lever that is located beneath the brew kettle that stops the flow of coffee when you take off the carafe when making.
Although this machine is more expensive than other machines on the market, it's well worth the investment for those who want to enjoy consistently delicious coffee without having to spend too much time in the kitchen. It's easy to clean and all components that come into contact with water and grounds are easily accessible. The brew process is slower than other models but still quicker than pour-over brewing. Besides, the Moccamaster's unique design, which is reminiscent of workshop tools or scientific instruments will add an elegant touch to your kitchen.
